Type 321 is a stabilized austenitic stainless steel similar to Type 304 but with a titanium addition of at least five times the carbon content. This titanium addition reduces or prevents carbide precipitation during welding and in 800 - 1500 °F (427 - 816 °C) service. It also improves the elevated temperature properties of the alloy.
321 Stainless Steel Sheet 321 is non-heat treatable and non-magnetic in the annealed condition. This alloy contains chromium, nickel, and titanium. It is used principally for applications involving welding or sustained elevated temperature operations.
321 stainless steel plates are part of the austenitic family of stainless steel. 321 is basically a 304 grade containing a stabilizer of titanium. Type 321 is a good choice for applications where heat is an issue. 321 can be used in applications up to 900°C where 304 is normally used up to 500°C.
Type 321 is a stabilized stainless steel which offers as its main advantage an excellent resistance to intergranular corrosion following exposure to temperatures in the chromium carbide precipitation range from 800 to 1500° F (427 to 816° C). Type 321 is stabilized against chromium carbide formation by the addition of titanium.
The titanium within means the stainless steel is intergranular corrosion resistant after heating, (between 425-900 degrees Celsius). Remarkably high strength as well as scaling resistance and phase stability set 321 Stainless Steel apart from other similar grades.
Grades 321 and 347 are the basic austenitic 18/8 steel (Grade 304) stabilized by Titanium (321) or Niobium (347) additions. ... Grade 321 does not polish well, so is not recommended for decorative applications. ... Typical physical properties for annealed grade 321 stainless sheets of steel are given in table 3.
Titanium Coated Stainless Steel - Royal Decor Steel. At Royal Decor Steel we are producing the highest quality of super mirror (titanium) surface on stainless steel sheet. Super Mirror is as near a perfect polish that can be produced on stainless steel. Super Mirror is blemish free, it has no grain and has reflective qualities just like a glass ...
The titanium content of 321 stainless steel preserves corrosion resistance around weld points. This material maintains its corrosion resistance in temperatures up to 1500° F. Foil is often used as a heat-treating wrap in temperatures up to 2600° F. It is furnished with a crimping tool.
321 stainless is a titanium stabilized grade commonly used for service in the 1000-1600°F temperature range. For service temperatures up to about 1600°F, a stabilizing treatment at 1550-1650°F, air cool, may be used to provide optimum resistance to intergranular corrosion and to polythionic acid stress corrosion cracking.
